The Invisible Borders That Define American Culture
One of the clearest regional differences in the U.S. can found by tracking the words people use to refer to soft drinks, which is in fact the map you saw at the top of this story. Pop or soda, or even Coke, these small linguistic differences are not as small as we might think. While “soda” commands the Northeast and West Coast (green) and “pop” is in between (black), “Coke” reigns in the south (turquoise). These small distinctions can often act as touchstones for larger cultural differences.

thejetreport:hahahahaha Tebow haters unite!!!
Was Tebow Booed at Yankee Stadium? Or was it Dwayne Wade? We dont care either way. Any media that call the Jets “publicity hounds” for signing Tebow though, only to report THIS as a major story, is no different. (Taken with instagram)

I see you now
Walking the hall
With your little posse
Thinkin’ you know it all
Thinkin you got
Everything figured out
Thinking you know all
And you have no doubts
Except one.
The one dealing with
Your entire past
And how you don’t
Want it to come back
So it can come and
Bite you in the ass?
Been there budd
Hurts like glass
Glass cutting through
The fragile skin
That is a barrier
But very thin
You cant escape the past
Or plan your life
You need to live it
With little strife
Strive for your best
Strive for perfection
Strive for your dreams
And youll be in heaven
Like I am when
I am with you
When I think of us
All my dreams come true
All I want and hope
For you to finally see
Is if you see us
Both you an me
Even together
Even as friends
I don’t want what
We had to ever end
Last forever.
Now I look at you
And have an inquiry
What have you become
And do you care about me?
Am I even crossing
Your clouded mind
Am I ever going to
With you? Mine
This is what I would
Absolutely love to know:
Do you love me like
I love you so?
Do you get the feeling of warmth
When you look my way?
Or is it ice cold like it used to be?
A feeling of dismay?
Let me know what
The answer is and maybe
I will accept it or live
In your company.
My love, my love
My hidden affection
Will last forever until
We reach perfection.
Hello fellow Tumblr people! Yes, this is one of those “Oh mah gosh it’s my 50th post!” posts. It will be short, quick, and to the point.
I have been on Tumblr now for about 2 months. I have had somethings reblogged or liked by some people. While I was looking through my profile, I realized that my posts where I bring up something controversial or totally out of the ordinary, there is not 1 reblog or like. Why?
Why is this generation so afraid to side with an unpopular viewpoint? Why is it so difficult to express an opinion that goes against societal beliefs?
This post has one message: establish your viewpoint; don’t just reblog a photo or article all the time. Find your voice and let the world hear it.
